Chef Greg Lipman on Piastra

Chef Greg Lipman on Piastra

Our team sat down with Greg Lipman, owner of Piastra in Marietta Square to learn a little bit more about himself and his amazing restaurant. Greg Lipman has been in the restaurant and food industry for nearly thirty years and packs a real punch of experience that shines through in the menu and offerings. When he heard a location was becoming available in the Marietta Square area, he knew that he had to take a look. After seeing the possibilities in the location and the crowd looking for “love”, Chef Greg is a strong believer in “Food is Love”, and we feel it! Chef Greg was inspired and created a business plan. Within six weeks, he and his mother, Mama Betty, were owners of the establishment well known as Piastra.

Piastra, much like the owners, is a truly local establishment. Chef Greg Lipman is passionate about ensuring any and all ingredients that can be sourced locally are. Piastra utilizes a locally sourced unrefined sunflower oil, local farmers for milk, eggs, and creams, and local pasture raised chickens. No overseas-sourced seafood is ever used, only domestically sourced. Everything is made in-house including breads, pastas, sauces, sausage, and pastries. Over 95% of the menu is available gluten-free and no GMOs are used in any dishes.

Piastra holds a wine dinner every month on the third Thursday (tickets can be found in our events section). Chef Greg Lipman also offers a chefs table where he will prepare your dinner with a fully curated meal partnered with wine, beer, or beverage of your choice. A full non-alcoholic menu is available along with over 106 wines. Chef Greg is even up for a wine spectator award. The staff is well versed and can quickly guide you to the best wine to pair with your favorite dish.

If you haven’t had to chance to experience the “love” at Piastra, it truly is a must!
