16 Events Leading Up to Father’s Day

At the end of this week, we will be celebrating our fathers. So in order to help the fathers in our lives relax for once, we have compiled a list of some of the best events in Atlanta leading up to Father’s Day. If you can’t be together that day, treat him to something nice beforehand. Give him time to relax and have fun. Fathers have done so many things for us, so it is time that we give back to them.

Wednesday, June 13

Meet on Wine! (Not Online) | City Winery Atlanta | 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm 

A Wine Mixer for the Single Sophisticate! Flying solo and have a passion for wine? Mix and mingle with fellow wine lovers in a zero-pressure, high-pleasure informative evening. As we journey through three whites and three reds paired with gourmet cheeses and chocolates, expand your palette, expand your mind!

Thursday, June 14

Water-Bath Canning: Peach Butter | Farmview Market | 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Learn the water-bath canning process start to finish in this fun, hands-on workshop led by Morgan County Family and Consumer Extension Agent, Leigh Anne Aaron. As part of our lesson, we’ll be preparing and canning freshly made peach butter from local farm-fresh peaches to take home, and learning the entire process of water-bath canning from start to finish. This workshop is great for the seasoned canner and beginners. Bring your apron and be prepared for a fact and fun-filled afternoon, with delicious peach butter to savor at home!

Free Wine Tasting | Under the Cork Tree | 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Under the Cork Tree hosts new producers and representatives of great wineries every Thursday in the lounge! Come in anytime between 5-7 PM to taste different types of wine and learn about their history. Full service for snacks or dinner are available if you are interested and retail purchases of the select wine are encouraged as well!

A Taste of Scotland – Scotch & Cigars | Maxwell’s Cigar Bar | 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Haig Club is a ‘single grain’ scotch whiskey based on a mashbill of 90% wheat (or corn) and 10% malted barley. Very little single grain whiskey is bottled; 99.99% is mixed with malt whiskeys to make ‘blended scotch’ such as Chivas Regal, Johnnie Walker and Dewar’s. Our Cutty Sark is not the ubiquitous blended scotch, but the rarely to be found Cutty Sark ‘blended malt’ (a combination of single malt from 2 or more distilleries). Its mashbill is 100% malted barley. Tamdhu 10 (Speyside) and Ardmore Triple Wood (Highlands) are delicious single malts in the all-rounder style. Laphroaig Select is our representative in the digestif (Islay peated) category. We finish will my favorite whiskey liqueur: Gordon & MacPhail’s Atholl Brose. So, do come and try it for yourself… and do please bring a friend. Sláinte.

Beautiful Pinot Wines from the Famed Willamette Valley | The Savvy Cellars | 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

The Willamette Valley was named “Wine Region of the Year in 2016,” and for good reason! It is THE location in the US to grow superior Pinot grapes…in fact, over 90% of the grapes grown in the Willamette are Pinot; worldwide, it is the 10th most planted grape varietal! It’s the perfect weather now, to “chill” with some of these fabulous warmer weather Pinots and we will be tasting five amazing ones from the Willamette Valley on this fun Thursday night. Picture yourself dining alfresco with some of these beauties as they are very versatile and will pair well with many foods!

Celebrate Happy Hour | Davio’s Atlanta | 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Join us on Thursday, June 14th at 6:00 PM as we welcome Atlanta Based Blogger and fashion-obsessed shopaholic, Trina Small, to host Davio’s monthly Celebrity Happy Hour! The mother of two little fashionistas living in Atlanta Trina was recently included as one of BuzzFeed’s Top Stylish Moms on Instagram. Guests are invited to sip on specialty cocktails while our host offers tips on shopping, style, and beauty for everything mom and baby!

Whiskey with Dad | City Winery Atlanta | 7:00 pm

On June 14th, guests are invited to celebrate Dad early with a special whiskey tasting experience on the urban outdoor patio. In an unforgettable evening, diners can enjoy a hearty, Big Green Egg-inspired menu created by Executive Chef Nick Anderson, along with tastings from an eclectic array of whiskeys.

Sausage Making Class | Pine Street Market | 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

Come join Rusty & crew for a hands-on sausage-making workshop as they explain a variety of grinding, casing and cooking methods. Participants take home two pounds of their own sausage creation. This class runs from 10 – 1 and includes a lunch of beer-braised bratwurst, country sides, and beverages. Sausage Class attendees will take home 2 pounds of their own handmade sausage. $125/ Person. Classes are held at Pine Street Market. Refunds are not available for missed classes.

So You Like it Sweet? | City Winery Atlanta | 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Come celebrate Father’s Day Saturday Night with us and let dad relax with a nice glass of wine. Be sure to take him home his favorite so he can enjoy the next day too on Father’s Day. Atlanta Summer Beer Festival | Historic Fourth Ward Park | 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Come out to the Historic 4th Ward Park for our 9th annual Summer Beer Fest! We will have over 200 beers, featuring many local Atlanta breweries, as well as plenty of great breweries from all over the country. Your ticket price includes a souvenir cup, entertainment, and all of your beer samples. Food trucks will be present with plenty of options for you to purchase. 21 and up event.

Three Course Father’s Day Prixe Fixe | Atlas Restaurant | 5:30 pm

Celebrate Father’s Day on June 17th at Atlas with a spectacular three-course prix fixe menu created by Executive Chef Christopher Grossman, best known for his seasonal American cuisine combined with European influences, for $65 per person. Bringing unparalleled culinary experiences to the capital of the South, Atlas’ chef-driven dinner menu, which changes daily, will also be available along with the new Legendary Cocktail menu featuring signature libations made with coveted spirits like Remy Martin Louis XIII, Macallan Rare Cask, and Whistle Pig Boss Hog 4th Edition “Black Prince”.

Bacon-Infused Father’s Day | Dantanna’s Downtown | 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm

This Father’s Day, Dantanna’s is celebrating dads with a bacon-inspired menu created by Executive Chef Monique Barrow on Sunday, June 17, 2018 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Available at both the Buckhead and Downtown locations, dads can kick-off their dining experience with Dantanna’s build-your-own Bloody Mary bar featuring Bakon Vodka and all the fixings from pickled vegetables to peppered bacon strips. In addition to the regular menu featuring brunch favorites (Buckhead location only) and mouthwatering burgers, sandwiches, eclectic salads, steaks, seafood and more, diners can sink their teeth into a variety of chef-driven specials.
