12 Must-See Events Around Atlanta

We are finally in the month of March. There is lots to do as spring comes rolling in, but you have to make sure you talk time for yourself. It’s important to have, so we have made a list of 12 must-see events around Atlanta for this week. We hope you find something to help you get out and relax. Enjoy!

Tuesday, March 6

A Taste of the Tea Room: Scone-Making with Linda Rivers | Farmview Market | 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm

In this mid-afternoon workshop with Chef Linda Rivers, you will learn about the history of the delicious British treat known as a scone and learn proper techniques for making these scrumptious pastry treats built upon the simplest ingredients: flour, fat, and milk! Linda will demonstrate her scone-making process, step-by-step, for creating the lightly sweetened, biscuit-like cakes that make tea-time (or anytime!) so much lovelier. You will leave with Linda’s favorite scone recipe, a goodie-bag of her scones, and firsthand knowledge of how a British baker makes magic! It’s the perfect experience for an aspiring baker, a ladies’ day out (grab lunch in the cafe beforehand and then come to class!), or a little miniature get-away for the Anglophile in the family!

Junior Baking 101 | 1910 Public House | 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Junior Baking 101 ages 8 and up. Learn how to make fresh pizza and pastries with Chef Giovanna Garcia. Chef Garcia is the Culinary Arts teacher at World Language Academy.

Demonstration Class – Brisket and Corned Beef | Big Green Egg | 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm

Join us in an informative – and delicious – class where we will explore the world of meat curing with a pit master’s favorite cut, brisket. We are going to put Texas-style brisket in a head to head battle against corned beef to compare the flavor profiles and textural differences. You will be guided through the process from start to finish and learn how to cure meats at home. A feast will be served with mashed garlic potatoes, candied carrots, and a sandwich bar complete with the sauerkraut and fixings to satisfy those New York deli cravings!

March Wine Tasting | Eclipse di Luna | 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm

Make Tuesday something to talk about with Eclipse di Luna’s March wine tasting! On Tuesday, March 6, join Katie Spottswood of Georgia Crown Distributing to sip on a special selection of wines, Redemption Bourbon and Altos Tequila alongside complimentary hors d’oeuvres from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Wednesday, March 7

Sweet Hot Pani | Chai Pani | 7:00 pm

Prepare your taste buds, Atlanta! Chai Pani and Sweetwater Brewing Co. are proud to present the world’s HOTTEST dinner featuring some of the spiciest and funkiest Indian dishes ATL has ever experienced, paired with signature Sweetwater brews. Thursday, March 8

Free Wine Tasting | Under the Cork Tree | 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Under the Cork Tree hosts new producers and representatives of great wineries every Thursday in the lounge! Come in anytime between 5-7 PM to taste different types of wine and learn about their history. Full service for snacks or dinner are available if you are interested and retail purchases of the select wine are encouraged as well! This week’s featured wines include; El Enemigo Malbec Mendoza, Argentina 2013, Catena Zapata Cabernet Franc Appellation San Carlos Mendoza, Argentina 2014, and Anderson’s Conn Valley Vineyards Prologue Merlot North Coast, California 2011.

Join Reformation Brewery, Foundation Social Eatery and friends for the ultimate OTP Popup Beer Pairing Dinner on Thursday, March 8, starting at 6:30 p.m. Enjoy six courses with beer pairings provided by the talents and tastes of Reformation Brewery, Foundation Social Eatery, Local Republic, Creature Comforts, Century House Tavern and Variant Brewing Company! Guests will have the opportunity to indulge in a variety of delicious combinations including Hay Roasted Lamb paired with Variant’s Norcross St IPA and Foundation’s magret duck breast paired with Reformation’s Pinot Noir Barrel Aged Cadence.

Saturday, March 10

Whole Hog Class | Pine Street Market | 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

Get to know cuts of pork from the inside-out. During this interactive demonstration, Rusty & friends break down a whole pig while explaining various cuts of meat and the nuances of butchery. Participants slice their own pork chops and create two pounds of signature bacon! This class runs from 10 – 1 and includes a lunch of slow roasted pork shoulder, Southern vegetables, and beverages. “Whole Hog” attendees will take home their own pork chop and bacon. Due to the curing process, bacon is available for in-store pick up the following Saturday.

Taping of the Radio Show – Chef and the Fat Man | Big Green Egg | 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm

Join the “Fat Man” Kevin Jenkins and Chef Amanda Egidio as they tape the radio show Chef and the Fat Man! No tickets are needed for this event … just drop in and enjoy some tasty treats – right off the EGG. We’ll be sharing tips and tricks on how to use your EGG and of course, we’ll include recipes for you to take home and try yourself!

Low Country Boil & Live Music with Wasted Potential | 1910 Public House | 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm

Come celebrate Spring coming with a Low Country Boil out on our patio. At 1910 Public House we offer 26 craft beers and a full craft cocktail bar. We will be featuring live music from Mardi Gras style brass band Wasted Potential.

Lepre*CON 2018 | Tavern Park | 3:00 pm 

A Social Mess has set the date for LEPRE*CON 2018, Atlanta’s legendary and largest St. Patrick’s Day celebration. For a ninth straight year, the fabled event returns to Park Tavern on Saturday, March 10, 2018. Join 5,000 friends in the heart of Midtown for an unforgettable, all-day party in honor of all things Irish. Attendees are encouraged to wear their best costumes and prepare for a full day of outrageous antics, contests, surprise guests, DJs and live bands on multiple stages – including the infamous “Irish Spring Break Stage” – as well as plenty of adult beverages.
