I hope you have some green on you in preparation for St. Patrick’s Day this weekend, or else you may get pinched. St. Patrick’s Day is a wonderful and festival holiday that I hope everyone can enjoy. In preparation for it, you need to start having fun. That’s why we have complied a list of 12 events to help you celebrate this holiday. Have fun and wear green!!

Monday, March 12

Taverna Wine Dinner Featuring Van Duzer | Taverna | 6:30 pm 

Enjoy a four course wine dinner featuring Oregon vineyard Van Duzer. Enjoy Taverna favorites such as spring salad, tuna carpaccio, tagliata of filet mignon. Each course will be paired with a different Van Duzer wine.

Easy Bread-Baking at Home: No-Knead Bread w/ Lori Smith | Farmview Market | 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Join bread-baker and kitchen magic-maker Lori Smith of Double L Ranch as she guides you through the step-by-step process of her favorite “No-Knead” bread. Lori will share basic information about bread-making before guiding you through the process of how to handle the bread after its 8-10 hour rising period (that she will prep ahead of time). Next, Lori will help you start a loaf from scratch, so at the end of class, you will have take a loaf to bake that night and one to bake the next day! This is the perfect workshop for a fun husband/wife date night, a younger aspiring baker, a parent/young teen night out, or a girls’ night out! All you’ll need is your apron and a sense of adventure.

Demonstration Class – Introduction to BBQ | Big Green Egg | 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm

In this class we will cover the basics of BBQ, discuss the origin of ‘que, find out what the country’s favorite smoked foods are, and take a tour of regional sauces and styles. The menu is made up of brisket, beef ribs, beer braised barbacoa tacos, pulled chicken, Boston butt and cold smoked cheese.

Free Wine Tasting | Under the Cork Tree | 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Under the Cork Tree hosts new producers and representatives of great wineries every Thursday in the lounge! Come in anytime between 5-7 PM to taste different types of wine and learn about their history. Full service for snacks or dinner are available if you are interested and retail purchases of the select wine are encouraged as well! This week’s featured wines are from Imagery Estate Winery with their beautiful and artistic labels. Enjoy their Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet.

A Passion for Excellence: Wines from the Newton Winery | The Savvy Cellars | 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Don’t miss this fabulous opportunity to taste some impressive wines, from an exceptional winery! The Newton Winery was founded in 1977 by English businessman Peter Newton and his Chinese wife, Su Hua. Peter and Su Hua transformed one square mile of rolling hillside in Spring Mountain into one of Napa Valley’s most prestigious estates, whose wines have graced the official dinners of several US presidents and are always highly rated by professional wine reviewers. In addition, Tripadvisor has awarded the winery a “Certificate of Excellence.”

Friday, March 16

Date Night – St. “Patty’s” Pub Food | Big Green Egg | 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm

You will not need the luck of the Irish to find great pub inspired recipes in this class. With a different twist on “patty,” we’ll be grilling a selection of pub-style burgers, including bangers and mash burgers; chuck brisket burgers; short rib burgers served on a pretzel bun with beer cheese soup for dipping; a corned beef hash breakfast burger; and potato skin sliders. Each couple gets to participate, and then we feast together!

Fusion Flavors Series: Hot Night in Havana! | Vino Venue | 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm

Cuban cuisine is a fusion of Spanish, African, and Caribbean cuisines, drawing spices, techniques and flavors from each culture. Travel with us to Havana for an unforgettable evening and as we turn up the heat in the kitchen, our skilled chef will teach you a few tricks so you can take home a taste of the Caribbean! You will greeted with a glass of wine and a reception with light appetizers. You’ll have a striking view of our impressive open demonstration kitchen. You’ll don your apron and roll up your sleeves as your experienced Chef walks you through the process of preparing your meal. Together, we’ll prepare a delicious meal and enjoy the fruits of our labor with wines expertly paired to match by your own personal sommelier.

St. Patty’s Day Trip to South GA Winery | Wicks and Wines | 10:30 am – 6:00 pm

Ride with us to South GA for a St Patty’s Day Celebration. Tilford Winery Welcomes you to Muscadine Country. 14 acres of muscadine grapes. Also known as Scuppernog makes a wonderful wine and you’ll get to try the many varietals right there at the winery.  A little history: Muscadines grow best in fertile sandy loam and alluvial soils. They grow wild in well-drained bottomlands that are not subject to extended drought or waterlogging. They are also resistant to pests and diseases, including Pierce’s disease, which can destroy other grape species. Catered lunch and roundtrip transportation is included. Entertaining with Ease Series: St. Patrick’s Day Feast | Vino Venue | 4:45 pm – 7:15 pm

You don’t need the luck of the Irish to whip up an unforgettable St. Patrick’s day feast! Our chef and hostess extraordinaire will show you how to create Irish classics from scratch using traditional ingredients and techniques. Once you discover how simple it is to create a St. Patrick’s inspired feast, you’ll want to eat, drink and be merry all year long! You will first be met with a reception wine and light appetizers. You’ll have a striking view of our impressive open demonstration kitchen. You’ll don your apron, roll up your sleeves and Chef Adeline will walk you through the preparations your meal while you enjoy a sip your wine! Once you’ve completed your meal, you will sit down and enjoy it. You will also experience wines paired with the beautiful meal you’ve created.

Lucky Leprechaun Pub Crawl | Meehan’s Public House | 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm

St. Paddy’s Day fun comes to Buckhead! So make your plans to start your celebration early cause its St. Paddy’s Day! Be Irish for the Day and wear your GREEN! Tickets include comp Leprechaun comp shots, 3/2/1 Specials ($3 Cocktails, $2 Beers & $1 Shots), party beads, Irish themed food specials & more. It is never too early in day to start celebrating on St. Patrick’s Day!!

Paddy’s & Pints Fest | Pontoon Brewing | 12:00 pm – 10:00 pm

St. Paddy’s Day is on Saturday and you know what that means BLOCK PARTY! We are transforming Pontoon Brewing into the GREENEST Brewery on this side of Atlanta. The event will feature live bands, DJ, St Paddy’s party favors, of course, Green beer, food trucks and much more. Ticket includes first craft beer on the house from all new Pontoon Brewing in Sandy Springs! Be one of first 500 attendees and get a souvenir plastic stein courtesy of Pontoon Brewing. Entertainment lineup TBA.

Sunday, March 18

Knife Skills Class | Hal’s Kitchen | 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

The key to efficient cooking and beautiful dishes is decided by the cut of the knife. Let Chef Lana show you how to care for your knives, and the techniques behind slicing, dicing, julienne, chiffonade and deboning a chicken. (Life changing!) While mastering these techniques you will be making salsa fresca, greek style fajitas, and farmers market green salad. BYOK (bring your own knives) to learn how to get the most out of your prized possessions or use ours.
