Thursday, January 11

Taste of Scotland @ Buckhead | Landmark Diner | 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

What A Whisky Flight! Something old (Tobermory 10 40% was discontinued in 2009) and something new (Glen Scotia 18, a fine dram, was just licensed in GA); something borrowed and something blue (Bruichladdich 12 2nd Edition was from Tom Lobonc collection and Bruichladdich’s bottles are adorned in blue!). No, that didn’t really work. We haven’t featured a Tomintoul (pronounced TOM-in-towel) whisky since 2011, so let’s give its 16 year a go. We’ll finish up with a couple of winners: Oban 18 is awesome and if you think 12-year-old whisky is something to scoff at, then you haven’t tasted the great classic known as Caol Ila 12. Would you pay $80 for a 12-year-old 43% ABV whisky? I did, because CI-12 would still be a bargain at $100! The progression of increasing flavors and strength afforded by our flight is promising! It will all fit together to the point of creating synergies whereby the whole is greater than the sum of its parts (it’s pure magic). So, do break away from your gift wrapping for a couple of hours to join us on Thursday evening! Sláinte Mhath!!

Whole Hog Class | Pine Street Market | 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

Get to know cuts of pork from the inside-out. During this interactive demonstration, Rusty & friends break down a whole pig while explaining various cuts of meat and the nuances of butchery. Participants slice their own pork chops and create two pounds of signature bacon! This class runs from 10 – 1 and includes a lunch of slow roasted pork shoulder, Southern vegetables and beverages. “Whole Hog” attendees will take home their own pork chop and bacon. Due to the curing process, bacon is available for in-store pick up the following Saturday. Classes are held at Pine Street Market. Refunds are not available for missed classes.

Artisan Wine Tasting | The Gifted Ferret | 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

We will be tasting a minimum of 5 wines from The Gifted Ferret’s Wine Cellar. Wine Tasting is a great way to expand your palate, find new wines that you have never experienced before and meet great new friends that share your same passion for wine. Our Wines are all artisan / boutique wines which simply put means non-mass produced wines. Our wine makers are in it for the love, passion and art of wine making and often have passed their wineries down in their families from generation to generation. These wines will not be found in any grocery or package store and the quality comes shinning through, which is another great reason to attend a wine tasting. Bring your friends for a fun and relaxing evening and taste the latest additions to our wine portfolio. Reservations are recommended; please go to www.thegiftedferret.com to reserve your spot.
